What a beautiful day to celebrate the mothers in our lives! I am so thankful for my mom (meme iykyk!). She is always the first to encourage me, support me, guide me, and listens when I call her 348234 times a day. She also gave me the two biggest gifts in my life — the fact that I never knew a day in my life without Jesus/the way she raised me to value my faith… and for giving me my preshie little sister!
As wonderful it is to celebrate our grandmothers, mothers, friends who are mothers… I know this day can also be so hard for people who have lost their mothers, have strained relationships, who have lost children, and who deeply long and desire to be mothers.
There are days like this, that even in the good and celebratory moments filled with love - those same days can be when remarks (or instagram posts) that are made by the well-meaning can leave you broken.
So we look to the God of Sarah, of Elizabeth, of Rachel. We cry to the god of Hagar. To El Roi, the GOD WHO SEES. The God who searches us and knows our thoughts, even in the caverns of our heart. Who was shattered himself and knows that even with time the ache can still remain.
Our God knows what it means to deeply long and care for his children.
